Poems For Cadavers

lyrics

I begin this journey
Devoid of features
The child
The man
The Father
It is here that he lived
And here that he died
I draw parallel lines that appear to touch
Devoid of purpose except the endless horizon
I was here as a child
I strike out towards that horizon
Knowing it is mined with mysterious voids
That seem to appear as if from nowhere
To devour me
You could see the body from here
Cold but smiling as his temperature gradients went down
Like water down to it's level
Down to the sea
Sudden voids appear as if by magic
And they are unavoidable
No mater how adroit I am
I fall in
My dreams were always like this
My Father's body will skip the grave
There will be no resurrection
No rotting corpse
Just ash
Some parts
Then ash
He is a time traveler on an endless voyage
With no corporeal body
He glides across tile floors of massive waiting rooms
In the vacuum of space
No passenger
But a would be God
He chose not to believe this
The terminal is empty
No security to be seen
No baggage to be mislaid
He suddenly appears again
A younger self
He moves along escalators
He sits Buddha like on the articulated carousel
It moves and pinches his scrotum
The only sign of his passage
The blood left behind
I hold turnips in my hand
They are limp
My wife cries
There is a lump on my chest
There is a brief struggle over his would be body
A child in a doctors coat tries to console me
Then
With a motion he opens the window on the seventh floor
Follow me
He says
And
I do
